UPDATE 11/01/2021 - By request I have converted the AutoCAD .DWG file into .DXF format to allow for use with a wider variety of CAD software.

UPDATE 8/05/2020 - The CAD file is saved in AutoCAD R2004. I've added an additional
file in R2000 for those with older versions of AutoCAD. I've also added an 8 1/12" x 11"

DeleteGreat stuff! You've been VERY busy! The Autocad files that I see in the download, what Autocad revision are they saved to? I have an old copy of Autocad (circa 2002) which I use to do deck plans. Will yours be compatible?

ReplyDeleteThe .CTB contains all the lineweight information and is already posted with the other files. Unless I am misinterpreting your question that should be all you need. I plot to Adobe PDF (Adobe PDF Converter - Windows System Driver - by Autodesk), but most any PDF converter should work. Is that what you are referring to?

ReplyDeleteI really enjoy your Geomorphs. I am trying to generate my own base using them. I do have a small favor to ask, is there any way to get your dwg as a dxf? I use LibreCAD and it just does not like dwgs. If it is a pain then please do not do. I really do not want to be a bother. I can draw it all myself, I am just being on the lazy side.
ReplyDeleteI've converted the .DWG to .DXF format and put it in the same directory as the other files. The original link should give you access to the new .DXF file. Let me know if you have any trouble downloading it.
DeleteThank you very much. It loaded up, but there are "hatch failed due to gap" errors. I think I can fix those. The only other issue is one you can not help with as I think my laptop is just not beefy enough to handle this large of a drawing, as I have run into the lag before on some my own drawings that got large. Thank you again for the assist and even more thanks for the Geomorphs. They are a great resource for any Traveller games no matter their version.
DeleteI don't often work with DXF files. I was surprised to see the DXF file was 10 times the size of the DWG. Good luck!

ReplyDeleteWhat is the deal if I use your symbols for a few ships in a (hopefully) published sourcebook?
I released both the Starship Geomorphs book and the Starship Symbols book (and the accompanying CAD symbols) under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License. You probably figured that out since it is plastered on every page.
DeleteIf your sourcebook is to be freely distributed you can use anything you want from the symbols book with my blessing. If your intent is to create a sourcebook to sell, that gets a little stickier.
I'd be the first to admit that none of the equipment shapes or symbols I've created are copyrightable on their own. If multiple symbols are used and it starts to look obvious, that could be considered a copyright violation. I would encourage you to come up with your own style of drawings if your intent is to make money off your work.
