Illustration - Space Station

A space station example using geomorphs from the sketch below. 24 sections 2 standard geomorphs wide by 6 decks deep would make this about 60,000 dTons or about the equivalent of a 3 million square foot building. The innermost ring "spine" is for quick circulation, a combination tram, light vehicle path and pedestrian path - just under a half mile circumference. I've included a variety of standard ships for scale.

Geomorph book progress

This is the current index for my geomorph book. I've also drawn some tram plans and tram stations for rapid movement across very large ships. Other changes are certainly go to be made. I'd like to add more designs and clean out the ones I don't think are up to snuff.
Another option for a geomorph I've looked at would allow stacking vertically. The layout works pretty well in general, but starts to limit what can be done with the deck as a whole. It's not an abandoned idea yet, but I'm not sure how many like this I will do.

Illustration - Starship

Illustration of a starship from the Domain of Deneb. Drawn circa 1989 and cleaned up in Photoshop.

Illustration - Animal Encounter

Illustration I did in 1989 and cleaned up a bit in Photoshop. An undersea researcher or personal sub aficionado encounters a creature which bears a strong resemblance to his vehicle. The intent was for the older creature to be defending its territory, but who knows? It could possible lead to an unpleasant interspecies mating incident.

Sci Fi / Urban Geomorphs

It's a work in progress, but here is a combined collection of most of my sci fi / urban geormorphs. So far they cover over a square mile.

Sci Fi / Urban Geomorphs

Speaking of geomorphs, I've created over 100 3D geomorphs in SketchUp with a Sci Fi / Urban theme. Not sure what I'm going to do with them yet.

Low Berth / Cryo Unit

An example of a 2D to 3D design progression. I originally had a pretty good idea of what I wanted the unit to look like when I first drew it in plan - kind of an egg-in-a-crate design - symbolically emphasizing the fragility and vulnerability of a low berth passenger.

Article: Sci-Fi Corridors

Found this interesting article about corridors in science fiction films. Glad to see I'm not the only one who takes his geekiness to this level.

Starship Geomorphs

I'm putting together a book of starship geomorphs. I've drawn over 400 so far. There's still more work to do before things are finalized, but here is a sample. Astute viewers will recognize that #199 is the plan from the blog header above. No, the lead figure is not to scale.
