Random Starship Generator and Geomorph Shipyard

 I just wanted to give a quick shout out to some creative tools developed for use with the Starship Geomorph image files.

The good folks at Role Generator have created a Random Starship Generator, which takes user input and creates either a randomly generated starship deck plan or presents a random, pre-generated ship plan. The image base uses those created from Starship Geomorphs 2.0 and various small craft. It is very simple to use and can create a lot of ships very quickly. The Random Starship Generator can be found by clicking [HERE].

Iván Sanchez Ortega, who designed the Peapod Class Mobile Refinery as part of the Adventure Class Starship Geomorphs community design project, has recently released Geomorph Shipyard, a simple to use tool for combining geomorph into your own unique designs. The image base uses files created from Adventure Class Starship Geomorphs. The software is simple and intuitive to use, keeps a running tally of parts and tonnages, has an image preview tool, and a Save and Load feature. More features are expected to follow, so keep your eyes on it. The Geomorph Shipyard can be found by clicking [HERE].

As always, thanks to Eric B. Smith for doing the original image file conversion. I'm sure he is happy to see his work put to good use. Tools like these are a welcome part of the geomorph family and I encourage other developers to create similar work, provided it be made freely available to everyone. Great job to all involved!

UPDATE 2025-10-29

Ivan has updated the Geomorph Shipyard app to include images files from Starship Geomorphs 2.0, added some super helpful library and geomorph shape filter functions, a preliminary export to image feature, and now the app automatically creates a randomized starship deck plan upon start up. Great job, Ivan!

Bessemer Class Fast Trader

 

Here is the twenty-first, and final, ship in the Traveller community design series using the Adventure Class Starship Geomorphs book. I want to thank those who participated for sharing their skills and creativity, and showing how far geomorph-based ships can be pushed with some effort.

While I will no longer be accepting geomorph layouts from the community, I may from time to time add deck plans from my own geomorph-based designs. I started sketching the original geomorphs over ten years ago, and even after all that time I still find them fun to play with. Along the way I've reignited my passion for being a gear head, by creating or assisting with all the High Guard statistics included with the community designed ships. Special thanks to Mongoose Publishing for doing such great work, in particular with the High Guard 2022 Update, Traders and Gunboats, Adventure Class Ships, and the additional alien race High Guard info and ships included with the Aliens of Charted Space series. Its all very inspirational stuff and I highly recommend these works if you are interesting in starship design.
