Starports and Bases

It's been a while since my last post, but I've been busy working on a new Traveller supplement, tentatively titled Starports and Bases. The project draws inspiration from Judge's Guild's Fifty Starbases and other published works featuring starports and similar facilities. The goal is to create a collection of detailed, high-quality starports and other facilities for use in your Traveller games. It will be Traveller version generic and could even be used for other science fiction role playing games.

Each entry will include an annotated site plan of the facility, a 3D illustration, and a narrative description. Additionally, each entry will include a blank site plan, for use by players and referees to label and customize however they wish. As currently envisioned, the collection will span everything from remote Class E frontier landing fields to sprawling Class A facilities, both highports and lowports, along with non-starport facilities like research stations, mining camps, scout bases, and more. Randomized tables will help generate local flavor and provide ideas for making each starport feel unique and memorable. I'd like to include notable local NPCs, vehicles, robots, and adventure hooks if time and space permit.

Below are several work-in-progress images (some previously posted to a couple Facebook groups), to give an idea of the direction I am heading. My goal is to include around fifty facilities. Progress has been slower than I'd like as I try to maintain a consistent level of quality.

Grouper Class Free Trader

Here is the tenth in the series of starships, small craft, and vehicles designed by members of the Traveller community using the Adventure Class Starship Geomorphs book. This series invites players and referees to test their skills as a Naval Architect, to design and share their unique geomorph-based creations, and join in showcasing the diverse creativity within our group.

Each post in this series will feature at minimum a distinct starship deck plan with a description and basic ship stats. Others may include full High Guard stats, supplemental text about the ship, adventure hooks, an illustration, and more. It is my hope these designs will provide entertainment in the long-standing Traveller "mini-game" of starship creation, and fresh inspiration for your campaigns. Enjoy!

Excerpts from the upcoming Starship Geomorph book

I've been feeling pretty bad about not having any time to put into my Traveller hobby and blog these last six months. Rather then just let the blog rot on the vine I've decided to start adding some of the images from my upcoming* book of Starship Geomorphs. It will be less of a surprise when the book is complete, but give those interested something to look at in the meantime.    * by upcoming I mean whenever the hell I can get around to it

So here's a couple of geomorphs to tide you over: a Drop Capsule Troop Deck and a Hangar for the Nirvana Class Dropship. I've also added an illustration for what a Traveller ship's armory might look like.

You can see my post on Drop Capsules [here] and the Nirvana Class Dropship [here].
 Enjoy!

Fighter Hanger Geomorph and Illustrations

I've been working on the model/illustrations for one of the fighter hangar geomorphs. Lots of detail in this one since in addition to the fighters it includes a repair bay/machine shop, work bench for electronics or smaller repairs, and a flight control room on the second level. I hope to be including more illustrations of this space in the future.
