Illustration of a ship's Crew Common Area / Lounge. On a small ship this would serve as the main galley and mess area. Counter units are modular. This combination shows a basic kitchen and entertainment units. The rear wall contains image projecting panels, here showing a serene forest lake scene. The shelf unit contains souvenirs of the crews' adventures, including a 3rd Dynasty Tokhtea Gong and an urn containing the ashes of Duke Kuugoshuug.

Illustration - Space Station

A space station example using geomorphs from the sketch below. 24 sections 2 standard geomorphs wide by 6 decks deep would make this about 60,000 dTons or about the equivalent of a 3 million square foot building. The innermost ring "spine" is for quick circulation, a combination tram, light vehicle path and pedestrian path - just under a half mile circumference. I've included a variety of standard ships for scale.

Geomorph book progress

I'm making progress on the geomorph book, but it is slow going. I'm not much of a writer and given how particular I can be about language means it is a pretty laborious process for me. I printed out and started redlining my first very rough draft today - mostly the non-geomorph plan parts. The decision to make this strictly a PDF release only may have been a mistake. I'd really like to have a hardcopy, but it means creating some different layouts for both the PDF and print versions. Live and learn I guess.

This is the current index for my geomorph book. I've also drawn some tram plans and tram stations for rapid movement across very large ships. Other changes are certainly go to be made. I'd like to add more designs and clean out the ones I don't think are up to snuff.

Another option for a geomorph I've looked at would allow stacking vertically. The layout works pretty well in general, but starts to limit what can be done with the deck as a whole. It's not an abandoned idea yet, but I'm not sure how many like this I will do.

Illustration - Animal Encounter

Illustration I did in 1989 and cleaned up a bit in Photoshop. An undersea researcher or personal sub aficionado encounters a creature which bears a strong resemblance to his vehicle. The intent was for the older creature to be defending its territory, but who knows? It could possible lead to an unpleasant interspecies mating incident.
